Folks in our Mt. Vernon community home enjoyed a taste of Maine living during a recent getaway to the gorgeous Misty Harbor Resort in Wells. The sun, sand, and sea “revitalized us all for the summer ahead,” said Nancy Savage, program manager of our Mt. Vernon residence.
A highlight of the trip was a daytime cruise around the iconic Nubble Lighthouse in neighboring York. We’re so grateful to Reza Khorshidi, the brother and guardian of one of our Mt. Vernon residents, whose generous donation made this delightful activity possible. Heading up to Misty Harbor Resort, the group took a little shopping break at the Kittery Outlets and picked up refreshing frappes to sip as they headed to Wells.
Our group of 12 also enjoyed swimming in Misty Harbor’s pool and soaking in the hot tub. Each suite had two bedrooms, a living room, and a dining area, so suite mates took turns hosting each other for meals ordered from the resort’s Italian restaurant along with sumptuous seafood dinners from area eateries. And since every summer vacation requires ice cream, we’re especially grateful to Ray Jackman, the brother and guardian of one of our Mt. Vernon residents, and Ray’s wife Meesha, for the “mad money” they donated to ensure there was plenty for all 12 of us.
