"We feel that children are our future — and we need to invest in them."

- HopeWell donors Caroline & Ryan McAuliffe

Caroline McAuliffe and her husband Ryan have 4 children, and they are acutely aware that many children don’t have the same opportunities as theirs.

Donors to HopeWell since 2017, the McAullifes have become more invested in the organization in recent years, recently pledging a multi-year gift to HopeWell’s Dare to Hope campaign. They believe in the campaign’s ability to create better outcomes, brighter futures, and more equitable systems for children and families.

Both appreciate that HopeWell is not a “big machine,” yet still plays a vital role in the Massachusetts foster care system. “You’re not only doing the day-to-day work, but you have a vision on how to change the landscape and how to solve some of the issues that exist. HopeWell is an organization that makes an impact,” share the McAuliffes.

In addition to supporting children experiencing foster care, it is also meaningful to Caroline and Ryan that HopeWell supports adults living with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well.

One of their children has a severe disability. While they feel fortunate that will likely always have the means to care for him, they recognize that there is a huge gap in services for this population. As Caroline reflects, “What about kids like him who don’t have the same chance? And kids who have parents who, because of their own limitations or problems, just cannot take care of them? It’s a part of HopeWell’s work that means a lot to us.”
