HopeWell has recently hired Barbara Duffy as its Vice President of Advancement. “We’re thrilled to have Barbara join our team,” Shaheer Mustafa, President and Chief Executive Officer said, “She’s got tremendous energy and compassion about the needs of the population we serve. She’s dedicated her career to improving opportunities for both young adults and those with disabilities. As an experienced development professional, she’s got a track for leveraging resources that we believe will help us offer our quality programs to more individuals and families.”
Duffy will lead the efforts to create a fund development plan that will support new revenue streams thereby enabling HopeWell to diversify its revenue base. Recently, HopeWell was selected as the first national expansion site for the California-based, First Place for Youth. The program, My First Place is currently recruiting young adults out of HopeWell’s Roxbury Office so new funding will help support this innovative program. The agency also hopes to build additional financial support to be responsive to the growing needs of the communities it serves.
Ms. Duffy previously served as Vice President of Development at BAMSI where she helped support significant revenue growth as well as creating new giving opportunities to grow donor constituencies. Prior to that, Barbara served as the founder and Chief Executive Officer at MY TURN, Incorporated; a youth development agency. While at MY TURN, Barbara worked to expand the program across three states while also securing national funding and recognition. In 2006, Duffy earned the Executive Director of the Year award from the MA Council of Human Service Providers.
“With HopeWell’s primary work involving the empowerment of young adults in the foster care system, I am passionate about creating new funding opportunities to support the agency’s efforts. I believe HopeWell’s mission is critical in order to support those in our care,” Duffy said.
Barbara earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Rhode Island, a Master’s in Education from Rhode Island College and most recently a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Leadership and Management from Fitchburg State University.
