02/02/2021 $1M of PPE, 52 human service providers, and two generous donors

In January 2021, HopeWell received $1 million worth of personal protective equipment (PPE) to distribute to human services nonprofits throughout Massachusetts!

This is thanks to the generosity of ProCure Hope, a nonprofit formed by professional volunteers that responds to COVID-19-related crises — it was their second donation of PPE to HopeWell during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their first was in April of 2020 when supplies were urgently needed, but scarce. This was also made possible by OpenE, a logistics and technology company that provides e-commerce solutions for cross-border merchants and has warehouses and staff in both the US and China.

Our first order of business was finding storage for 18 pallets worth of gear — a combination of K95 and paper masks — before organizing distribution. Our friends at Advocates agreed to take on delivery, offering critical assistance in helping us get the supplies out. Relying on their logistical expertise, we were able to distribute over 800,000 masks to 52 human service agencies that care for some of the most systemically marginalized members of our communities, including children and teens experiencing foster care and adults with disabilities.

We are incredibly grateful to both ProCure Hope and OpenE for helping us keep essential human services workers safe throughout the pandemic. We’re also incredibly grateful to Advocates for playing such an important role in this effort. In our collective responses to the pandemic, we have witnessed (and been the beneficiary of) inspiring acts of generosity and kindness!
