The challenges surrounding child welfare are complex — but solvable.

Doing the same old thing isn’t working.

Massachusetts leads the nation in areas like medicine, technology, and education. But when it comes to foster care, we fall short. With our resources and history of innovation, we can do better. Every child deserves a fair shot at success.

This work isn’t easy. Interconnected challenges like poverty, housing instability, and fractured systems can make improving the child welfare system seem daunting. But we see a path forward. HopeWell’s vision and expertise can help change this.

Building better outcomes, brighter futures, and more equitable systems for children and families

Our research and 60+ years of service have taught us what kids and families need most — strong relationships, economic stability, education, and support from skilled professionals. When we focus on these levers, children, families, and communities thrive.

Yet state contracts only fund the bare minimum. Investing in preventative solutions, forward-thinking strategies, and higher standards of care isn’t just the right thing to do; it’s the smart thing to do. That’s why we’ve launched Dare to Hope, a campaign to mobilize the resources we know will move the needle for kids and families.

Dare to Hope

Kids in foster care deserve better — and at HopeWell, we believe deeply in what is possible for every child.

Decades of disparate outcomes for children and teens experiencing foster care do not reflect limits in their potential; they reflect persistent gaps in opportunities, resources, and support.

Our work brings proven, common-sense solutions to children and families across Massachusetts and helps raise the bar for the entire child welfare system.

Oftentimes, state funding only covers the bare basics. Therefore, philanthropy makes a BIG difference in the lives of the children and families we serve.

That’s why our Dare to Hope campaign is about more than helping some kids and families “beat the odds” — it’s about changing the odds.
